1.Simple is best.

Your first instinct may be to put everything about your business on their website…don’t!

Too much irreverent text or images only serve to confuse the visitor.

To the point, they will click away from your web page and move onto the next.

You have about 8 seconds to convince a new site visitor to stay on your site…

You must have a clean website with a clear USP (unique selling proposition).

A USP – is a headline or short sentence…(not too long). Communicating to your site visitor – the problem you solve for them…

….and why they should do business with you.


2. Use a clear heading & sub heading

Your Heading (H1) should state clearly what you do. This will help your visitor to know they’re on the right site. Your Sub Heading (H2 or H3) should back up your heading by telling the visitor…

…What BIG benefit – they’ll receive when they use your product or service.


3. Use video

Having a video to sell your business on the internet is now a must.

Statistics have shown. Visitor engagement and conversions increase by up to 230% when you use video.


For your video to be effective. It needs to be quality and well scripted to have an impact. Cheap homemade videos don’t do as well.


4. Have a primary course of action

What is the one thing you want your site visitor to do once they land on your webpage?

…Do you want them to contact you?

…Request more information?

…Buy a product?

…download a report?

…Watch a video?

Each web page needs one primary course of action. Make it clear to your site visitor – this is the next logical next step to take.


5. Use a lead magnet

A great lead magnet is a way to engage your site visitors and encourage them to interact with you…

Generally, this is the form of a free offer or product. In which the visitor gives you their details in exchange for something of value.

It doesn’t have to be expensive. It can be as simple as an E-book or free report.

It depends on your audience and what they are looking for.


6. Give clear options

When your visitors come to your website they are looking for information.

Visitors never come to your site to look around and hang out.

It is important you make it clear what you have to offer them and how they can get it.

The easiest way to achieve this is through the use of a clear navigation bar or directory buttons.


7.Use social proof.

Once a website visitor has decided you have the product or service they want.

Their next decision is: Why should they trust you?

Your website should have as much social proof as possible.

Use client testimonials where you can. But, case studies, statistics, data or social media followings, work as well.


8. Ensure you are mobile optimised.

Most internet browsing now happens on mobile devices these days.

Use bright colours to draw the visitor to your primary course of action.

Your customers are more time sensitive than ever.

For every second your visitors need to wait for a page to load…

You’re giving them a chance to click away.

Improving page load speed will improve your customer’s user experience (UX).
